SPEAKING WITH: MANULIFE, SUPPORTER OF CAMBODIA RUN

November 15, 2019

In 2012, Manulife, one of the world’s leading life insurance companies, established a presence in Cambodia as Manulife Cambodia. Since then, Manulife Cambodia has committed to providing its customers with financial protection through its products and services.

Manulife Cambodia plays a paramount role in the success of The Cambodia Run Challenge 2019 by providing support to us. We speak to their representative to learn more about them as well as their involvement in this year’s run.

  1. This year marks the second time Manulife is supporting The Cambodia Run Challenge. Why did Manulife choose to work with this charity?

Manulife is proud to sponsor the logistics of the Cambodia Run Challenge once again because we believe in their cause – helping the local communities to improve their livelihoods.

The mission and focus that Cambodia Run Challenge is fundraising for are aligned with Manulife’s vision of helping local communities to live healthier and better lives. This includes empowering local communities through children’s education, health and income generation.

  2. How is Manulife Cambodia supporting this year’s Cambodia Run Challenge? Could you share with us the support Manulife is providing?

Manulife Cambodia has been working closely with the tour operator, Cambodia Cycling, for planning and execution of the run from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. This includes identifying the route and confirming accommodation and meal arrangements for the entire journey.

Throughout the run, a support vehicle and a team of staff, including a guide and medical staff, will be accompanying the team. Cambodia Cycling has also put together a comprehensive emergency plan in case of any unseen circumstances.

  3. Could you please share with us a key highlight of the first Cambodia Run in 2017?

The first Cambodia Run in 2017 was a great story. It caught a lot of attention from the locals as well as the media. If you are interested in reading more about the previous run, here are a few media coverages:

A Run from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap to Raise Money for Charity

Two British Run More than 300 Kilometres to Help Cambodia

  4. Why is supporting these types of fundraising efforts important to Manulife?

Manulife has a significant social and economic impact on the communities that we live in and work at. In addition to making our customers’ lives better, we partner with non-profit organisations to increase the impact of their efforts.

Recognising that the needs of the community are greater than the work any single organisation can meet on its own, Manulife wants to be part of a movement that builds healthier and more equitable communities.
